Water desalination by silica supported ionic liquid: Adsorption kinetics and system modeling

Significant efforts have been done in order to improve adsorption desalination systems by developing advanced adsorbents. Silica-supported ionic liquid (SIL) has recently proposed as a promising material for water due its relatively high capacity around 1 kgwater.kgSIL−1. Such achieved performance can be considered an initial cornerstone that requires further important additional data before reaching successful practical application. In this paper, experimental measurements of kinetics the SIL named EMIM-AC/Syloid 72FP are presented. The is interpreted using linear driving force (LDF) model shows good harmony with data. Depending on former study isotherms and current data, system (ADS) predicted dynamic lumped parameter model. results show bright future application theoretical pure production achieving 47 m3 day−1ton−1, 0.85 coefficient 600 W kgSIL−1 specific cooling power. Furthermore, working theoretically powered low 40 °C heat source.
